Thanks Ken, Keith, Chris, Kaegi. Helps make sense. Yes, 4-1" balls and 5th pinned (which i hadn't noticed) in center. Explains why the inner bronze axel bushing on Bendix-Weiss side in so much better shape than other side --- more recently replaced.
Found 1/4" by 1" pin and smaller pcs. of same in bott. diff. housing. They look similar to pin in Bendix-Weiss joint although can't see how they might have gotten past bushing into the housing. Diff. itself appears tight and undamaged.
All felts and seals missing completely or shot and much sandy grease and pitted bearings so i'm glad I have taken apart --- archives here are very helpful, Joe.
i'd like to replace seal on pinion shaft but need to study more first.
