Yea but there is a design that is in my 51 ff PW that has the "C" end on both axle ends and a middle solid piece with no balls.
My Carryall has balls between the axle halves and the center piece. The center ball is on a pin. Not sure which is stronger but I have seen the balls wear some deep groves into their tracks which results in hard steering and the balls can pop out if badly worn.
On my ff PW the short axle joint exploded at some point. The interior of the axle end ball has many gouge marks to prove it.
