I support Tim's view on the ceiling height. The boom of my jib crane, just under my 12 foot ceiling, can be too low to pick a tall load from the bed of a truck. The boom takes some height, then the trolley, then the hoist, then the hook.... It ends up too low. I think 14 feet would be real good.
If you want a really trick setup, put in a bridge crane. A lot of that kind of hardware can be had for scrap price, or for the hauling, due to the demise of America's manufacturing base.
