The top connection on the filter is the outlet. It connects to the lower of two ports by the dipstick. The lower port to the filter goes to the port on the block that is just above the above named port by the dipstick. This port connects internal to the block with other ports at the same elivation on the block (one of these run to your oil pressure guage).
