My truck (1950 PW-126) has a 218ci. (T-96) out of a 1940s one and a half ton I believe. I have had it rebuilt, bored .60 over. Anyway, the carb is not right for the PW. I assume it's the carb that camne with the 218. It looks like the one in the PW parts book, but I know it is not an E7S1 or similar, because it does not have the razor-like plate above the float chamber with the identifying info. There isn't even an ID tag. Finally, the governor is completely gone. Maybe that's why the engine surged so badly before rebuild!
Should I rebuild this old carb or try to get another, newer model, such as the E7S2 with the mechanical accelerator pump rather than vacum actuated pump? I am planning on replacing the governor as well. I'm talking with Waretown Marine Auto about purchase or rebuild and VPWs about rebuild. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
