Jon
The horsepower potential for a 225-6 is in
excess of 600 as I have seen same in an early
Valiant, running in the 8-9 second range in the
1/4 mile. In fact, I believe "Mopar Muscle" did
an article on the beast in question
Chrysler built these with a "hyper-pak" in about
1960 & they were conservatively rated at 295
Horses.
Headers, a non-smog cam and a Clifford Research
4V intake ought to make your truck come alive.
You can also cut the head @ .030 to bump the
compression up a bit
You can also find 2V factory & 2-2V and 3-2V
aftermarket manifolds for these little tank motors
if you look around
Why keep the six? I worked in a Dodge dealer
where the shop truck had a 225-6. The dealer wanted
Dodge to give them a new truck so they drained the
water and oil, then ran the thing @ 45 minutes until
it froze. After it cooled, they did it again without
killing it. They finally did it a 3rd time and then
turned a hose on the sizzling hot block to crack it
since they could kill it any other way. There was
some talk of driving a stake through it's heart but
the garden hose had the same effect
Try THAT with a "350 Chevy, 4 bolt main, Holley 750
Double (trouble) pumper
