I bought this while in military in San Diego Calif. 1984.
Truck is 1978 short bed, 360 4brl, 4-speed with super low granny gear (1st)
Has brand new tires on it, with about 3,000 miles on them. It has
aluminum rims. It was tan when I bought it 1984. I had it taken
off frame and painted maroon in 1988. I used it mainly on farm to
haul wood, pull other people out of jams, and drive to work if
snow was bad. It has taken a beating on our winter salt roads.
Body is still in decent shape, but rusting out quickly around
fender wells. Floor boards are solid but weakening. No tail gate,
or interior trim. I lost trim over the years as I removed it putting
new doors and doing some work under the dash. No interior trim
is left. Also bench seat will need new covering. I have never had
any trouble out of the transmission or 4 wheel drive unit.
It caught fire on me about 4 months ago. It back fired through the
carb. by the time I was able to run to barn and get something to
put out flames, it was almost out. It did not do much damage.
I think it just jumped time. Motor has 110,000 original miles on
it. I put a new $250 edelbrock carb on it with auto choke (Dumb
idea I found out later) not long ago, I was tired of rebuilding the
carter. This truck would make a great project for the right person.
I simply do not have time to restore it.
price: $1200 (negotiable)
You pick it up.
