I've seen several approaches to the passenger side mirror on the M37, and the one I installed on my '62 B1 does all you are asking. It clears the door, folding windshield, and gas can.
The bracket of choice for me was off of a 2 1/2 roughly 1 1/2 in. wide and 5 in long. The bracket, arm and mirror were $5 at the surplus store.
After filling and re-drilling one hole so that the braket could be mounted to the existing two bolts that hold the panel above the fender (two forward and two in the rear) in place. No extra holes in the cab, windshield, or door. In doing this it was neccessary to install a 1/4 in shim behind the panel on the upper bolt to permit clearance when the hood is raised all the way back .
Looks original, clears everything, $5.
