Maybe this helps: Have had three WDX types, all with governed engines, all flathead sixes. The dealer (old Opera Hall Garage, Sonora, CA) was very specific about setting the gov's at
2500 rpm. We hauled large horse trailers, often between Sonora, CA and Jiggs, Nevada. Setting the gov's to 3000 caused hot transfer cases and rear ends, although, strangely, the only speed related mechanical failures were water pumps. Going back to 2500 ended the
problem. Woody
