Drew,
Thanks for answering some of my questions. Here's some more:
My knowledge of Mopar engines is limited to the slant 6 and the 360, so
there is a lot I need to learn.
The "Standard Catalog of American Four-Wheel Drive Vehicles" lists the L6
as the standard motor for this year and what they call the Power Dome V8 as
the optional motor (BxS: 3.63 in X 3.80 in; hydr lifters; 5 main bearings;
CR: 8.5:1; 341.6 cu in (5.597 liters); 204 HP @ 4400rpm; 290 lbs ft
torque.)
Except for the displacement, the numbers look identical to the 315. I
think the book got the numbers wrong and instead of 314.6, they wrote
341.6. Maybe i shouldn't always believe what i read!
So i guess i have a 315 (poly?). Are there some serial numbers that I could look for that would help me positively ID the motor? Is it hard to find parts for this motor?
Where would i look? I know I'll have to replace manifold and headers and
the starter motor.
Thanks.
: The 341 Power Dome is not the stock motor for this truck. It either came with a flar head 6 or a 315 Poly V-8. I have a 58 W200 and am running a 315Hemi in it. If your 348 ? runs well Im would stick with it. Check the" Early Hemi page" for exact specs on you motor. The front axel should be a Dana 44, and the rear sould be a Corporate
: made by Chrysler. The trans I think should be a NP 420
: : I just got the above and am starting to dig into it. I'm not sure what you mean by cylinders but the right wheels for this truck are 6X17.5 tubeless rims.
