After you take a picture, you need to get it in a
format that can be viewed on the internet. So you
want to save it as either a .gif or .jpg.
If your camera didn't come with graphics software,
go to a place like tucows.com and download some shareware like
Paint Shop Pro or something similar. You can manipulate the images
very easily. Saving it as a .jpg will result in a
smaller file that will load on the page faster. Remember,
the bigger the file the longer we have to wait to see it.
Once you get the pictures in the format you want you have
a couple of choices:
1. If you want it on the 'net right away, email it to me
and I'll attach it to your forum posting.
2. Or (better since I don't have to use all my space)
find out from your ISP how to transfer the file to
your personal space. This can be done with an FTP
program that your ISP should provide. For pictures
you do not need to do any HTML work to build a page.
You can link directly to the picture. Then you can post the URL
right in the forum posting, and it will bring people
directly to your picture, when they click on the link.
Most ISPs will have a FAQ that tells how to get files
to your personal space, and what your URL is.
If you need some more assistance just ask, its
a little confusing at first, things like making sure
you use the same file name for the file and the URL,
and making sure case (upper case or lower case) is the
same everywhere.
Adding words to the picture requires you to
use HTML tags. That's what makes this line BOLD, for instance.
Give it a try!
