Getrag 5 spd question

I just bought a 1990 D350 with a 5spd Getrag trans. 163,000 and the truck runs and shifts great. Trans feels great and is untouched w/ original clutch. The truck has Mobile 1 in the trans and has been overfilled as recommended. I'm told overfilling the trans is the trick to keep them functioning properly, however I know the 5th gear retained nut is also an issue. Should I get this checked as a preventitive maintenance even though the truck runs great and shifts fine? Any ideas on cost? Thanks in advance to anyone who posts.
