1948 Dodge Power Wagon B1PW126 T137 12494
This truck has a poly 318 with an automatic transmission installed with a hanging power brake setup from a late 70s Dodge, installed by a previous owner Ron Carpenter ( Ron's Garage in Nebraska), who also put in the 318 and AT.
Since I have owned it, (about 3 years) I have or had changed Brake shoes and wheel cylinders on all 4 wheels, a couple of brake hoses and the master cylinder and booster. Also the point distributor was rebuilt. There is no rust thru anywhere that I have seen on the truck. there is surface rust in the cab seam over the windshield. The transmission shifter is a lever under the drivers feet and needs to be changed. You kick it out of park getting in or out of the truck. the seat has no rips in the vinyl. There is no headliner.
The truck has dual matic lever type lock out hubs. The frame was shortened by someone. It was cut off just past the rear spring mounts. The truck doesn't have a speedometer. Ron must have been the one who also replaced the gauges but he must have thought he didn't need a speedo, so there isn't room for one in the plate he made for the new gauges.
To get this truck on the road it needs, seat belts, wiring for the windshield wipers, a speedometer, wiring for all but the head lights, a better transmission shifter and new tires. Also new rear glass. The hood needs a new hinge, the ends are broken off. The wheels are the large lock ring type and gearing is 5:83 The doors are rust free, open and close properly and latch. The windshield frame has no rust thru and the regulator works but could use a little lubrication to free it up better. There is also a heater in the truck. Don't know if the heater works. The truck has been garaged by me and the person I bought it from also kept it inside. The truck used to live in Nebraska from at least 1977 to 2001 Then to kansas then to me in Willington CT
The truck runs well, could use a carb rebuilt from sitting though. drives and stops well. You need to keep your foot firmly planted on the brakes, with the 5:83 gears and the automatic it has the urge to go and not sit still at a stop sign. I am trying to raise money to build a house so my Power Wagons must go.
Price is $8,000
the truck is in Willington Ct and I have a title. To see more pictures go to http://imageevent.com/ahp691/48dodgepowerwagon For not a lot more money this truck could be a very nice driver.
