If you find that the welded nut trick does not get the broken stud out you can still drill it out. Grind the end of the broken stud down to where it is almost even with the head, and flat. Use a center punch and punch it right in the center, as close as you can as this is very important. Drill a pilot hole with a 1/8 binch drill bit completely thru the stud. Step the drill size up to 3/16 left hand twist bit and use a revesible drill to drill and try to back it out at the same time. This has always been successfull on most broken studs but if it is really rust in there you may end up having to drill and then retap.
