I think the splines on your front axles are twisted, causing interference.

Examine the splines carefully. In some cases the rifling can be touched up with a file, making installation of the hubs easier.

For the record, I no longer sell the Selectro brand hubs for the M35 application. The hubs that I now carry are made by the Ouverson Engineering & Machine Company, in the USA.

The OEM hubs compare to the Selectro brand the way sirloin compares to Twinkies.
