I'm pretty sure that the MN "winter fuel" isn't too far off from the CA winter fuel blend. I think that MN, NY, MA and a couple of other states have adopted CA emission standards and use very similar fuel blends. I do notice that as soon as I get into AZ my economy goes up by about 4-5 mpg, so I'm pretty sure that CA fuel sucks, which brings to mind a question that I have asked for 30 years. If my vehicle runs 30% cleaner on a given gallon of fuel, but gets 40% poorer fuel economy, I'm using more fuel to drive a given distance, so isn't the air getting dirtier per gallon burned? No one has ever effectively answered that question for me.
