Don't know what year truck, but use the battery terminal that does not ground to frame and connect a wire to it and to the coil's terminal that does not go down to the points. This is to eliminate current shorts up to that point. Try starting the truck. If it runs ok, you have a problem back to the ignition switch. PIF has instructions for checking shorts from coil to distributor.
Also try pooring some gas down the carb throat to get it to run and if it does and you have to continue the gas to keep it running, then it's a fuel problem.
