The discussion refers to the placement of the front signals, but factory rears became available at the same time as factory fronts. I "think" that factory rears on late '50s and up W300-WM300 POWER-WAGONS were always housed in a seperate light from the tail light/stop light. I would like to find out for sure.
Some aftermarket turn signal kits were designed to convert the rear tail lights into signals along with the cowl lights.
