Along the lines of A P Blooms post about chainsaw safety --- A senior law enforcement officer in our county had his hand seriously injured while cleaning out a plugged discharge chute on his RUNNING tractor snowblower attachment.
Always shut the unit down completely before doing this !! (Engine and all) ---
HOWEVER (!!!)
Under load a belt/auger can still be "loaded under tension" and "snap-back" when released so always use a stick to do this regardless of snowblower type.
