installation of distributor

If I take my old distributor out (M-37) and install a different one, is there any way this cannot go in right? I realize I will need to set the timing, but it should go in pretty close to start with shouldn't it?

Both the tang on the bottom and the rotor are keyed, so is there any way to get this wrong?
