John'S right, the 270 GMC Is a very tough motor.
However I thought you should Know that back in my "Street" racing days as a youngster I had a "66" Chevell SS with a 427 engine and a 727 Torqflite in it. That was in "68" Before I put the 4speed back in.
It did work great! TGP
