I have tried all of the methods suggested here. While they all work with time and patience, I was not really satisfied with any of them. Gasoline seemed to work the best but I liked it the least because of the fire hazard. So, I called VPW because they deal with a LOT of parts packed in cosmolene. They told me to try hot soapy water. I thought how can that work when everything else I have tried works only marginally? After trying it, I will never use anything else to remove cosmolene. It worked really fast, even better than gasoline.
I am with powerwagonjohn on this one.
