I once saw a deer get hit by a motorhome on I-90 near Cle Elum. The deer went spinning on its side all the way across the freeway, the shoulder, and into the ditch. It then got up, jumped over the fence and took off across the pasture. They must have no sense of pain. If their bones aren't broken and their muscles are still connected to their brain, everything's fine from the deer's point of view.
