I had an upholstery shop tell me they used unleaded gasoline frequently to remove stains from fabric seats, and particularly petroleum based products.

Another thing to try would be brake cleaner from a spray can. That is a dry cleaning fluid.

Also, phone your local upholstery shop for their opinion.
