Reinforcing the Roof

My roof has several dents in it. Has anyone ever reinforced the roof in some fashion to help stiffen it? If so, how did you do it.

I was thinking about tack-welding 1/8" or 3/16" flat bar from the front to the back under the arch on the inside, hidden by the liner.
