I would second what John says.
We have a horse farm, and I use an I.H. 52 h.p. tractor with a loader. I have antifreeze solution in the rears for more traction. I also have a locking differential, but 4wd would be even better.
When you have a load of manure in the loader, you really need traction, and you also need a fairly substantial tractor. Due to doing a lot of lifting with the bucket and a little logging, I decided to get one at least around 50 h.p.
