Plasigage is very accurate, its easy for the home engine builder to use, and inexpensive. Many home engine builders have not learned, thru experience, to use inside and outside mic's accurately. Use watever you feel cofortable giving you the most accurate reading.
One place plastigage does not work is on warm machinery that has not had a chance to cool to ambient. It'll melt!
