Hum, well, not wishing to reinforce the Scottish reputation for being careful with cash......
I made my own for two Carryalls and a pickup. I'd recommend trying it if you can get the right raw material, pareticularly if you have the remnants of the originals to use as a pattern.
There is an English company called Segal (Manchester area)that does 3/32" thick mill board with a black finish at about USD 10 per sheet. I opted to make mine because I had to do Carryalls (different headliner profile at the back of the 'cab'remember) and I could use the same stuff to make the door liner panels, kick panels, glove box liner, and the firewall liner panels. I've seen a Carryall with an adapted pickup headliner kit and it didn't really work.
Only real problem I have is that the pressed pattern on the original fibre door liner panels (1940 VC 3 and 1942 WC 36)is missing, but then I don't suppose the dealer kits have the pattern there either.
Also the cost of the dealer kits get quite expensive with international shipping and import taxes (doubles the cost) and I'd rather use the money to buy mechanical bits I need from the same dealers.
Did all three for about the cost of one headliner kit in the US, even before the postage and taxes.
