So they wanted to take an old 15' x 20'garage down at the Sportsmans club today. The discussed methodology ranged from chain saws, renting a backhoe at $150/hour, shooting it with shotguns to break the 2x4's and so on. So after about 15 minutes of listening to the masses ruminate, I just went home, got a couple lengths of cable and the PW. Upon my return there were the usual skeptics, but I had them run a cable around the garage as high as they could hold it. Hooked the relic onto it and got tension on the cable. Stood on the running board steering it in lo lo and the throttle set at about 1200 rpm. Amazing how that garage just did a slow motion barrel roll.
Yes, the baseboards were a bit rotten, but it did get a great cheer. Maybe the excitement had something to do with the few barley pops we had. Where's the video camera when you need it...
We then made umpteen trips up a frost based muddy hill to the burning area with the box filled and or dragging chainsaw cut up sections of the garage behind the PW. Of particular note was the guy with the $27,000 '98 "Shivvy" 4x4 extended cab (with chrome differential cover) that couldn't drag a thousand pounds of wall or roof section up the hill. He parked it and rode on the PW.
When we were finished they couldn't believe that my 1948 fossil easily out did the new stuff. They were amazed at what that old thing can do!!
** Must be one of the few situations where ND tires worked well...
