The factory manual for my 1973 IHC which came equipped with an NP205 transfer case from the factory, states as lubricant for the transfer case:
"Use straight mineral oil SAE-90 for temperatures 0 degrees F, and up."
*Straight mineral oil* means no EP
additives. GL-1 is straight mineral oil.
So, yes, I do follow the original manufacturer's specification in this case.
Also, I didn't know Dodge *made* NP stuff, I thought they just equipped their trucks with NP products like IH did. Learn something new everyday, that's a good thing.
