One was my own 72 F250 w/428 CJ. In 1976. Needed a junk yard frame, and a new set of I-beams from yet a 3rd truck. I drove it for another 150,000 miles, then sold it to a Jar Head just back from Iraq I. I drove it for a couple years looking like a potato sack, then paid $700 for paint and body. Net gain was $950 for the wreck.

T'other one was my Mom's 72 Comet. In 1978? Sold it to a friend who used it extenxively off road- Baja and to his gold mine east of San Diego. He finally drove it across the scales a few years later, didn't even try a boneyard. I only made $200 on that one.

These were before the salvage title rules tightened. Since they never transferred to the ins co, no problem. Just sorta like they got dented, and the ins covered my repairs. I don't know what would happen today if you "retained salvage" and fixed and drove your own car.

Boy, I've had lots of fun with cars.
