Dodged a major bullet with '01 CTD truck

I have read quite a bit of late of the lift (fuel) pump failures of trucks built from '99 through '02?. IF the lift pump fails, the injector pump will starve and die, and this is very expensive.
In the past few weeks I noticed an occasional hesitation on acceleration, and the truck occasionally would not start as fast.
The warrantee runs out this December too.
I took it in, and indeed the lift pump was starting to go. They put in the newer "fix" which is a pump in the fuel tank. All was not charge because it was still under warrantee.
Sometimes Murphy is not present to nail you!
