? about 2nd series bed, on 51 PW

I just bought a 1951 b-3 PW and the bed sides seem lower than most of the other 2nd series trucks I've seen. They are only 16 and 1/2 inches high from bed floor to the top of the rail and the tailgate is only 14 inches high .I was wondering if they offered a low side bed as a option like they did on the pick up trucks in that same era ? will try to get photo's to show soon. this bed looks to be original not hacked up any help please.
