Hello, Bob I bought the truck in Michigan it was brought here by a trucker who I believe got it from a truck yard in Lake City he was apparently coming home empty and brought it back to sell to make some cash on the trip home. A friend of mine told me it was for sale. My family all live in Florida but they have been no help finding swivel frames.
I was told back then that there were 6 of them made. I see Dave's message says possibly 5 to 8. I Think they were made in or near Lake City I believe the Forestry Division had and still has a main vehicle maintenance facility were they custom build some of thier specialty vehicles and may have made them either alone or in conjunction with another shop in Northern Florida. The thing I find most interesting is I can now say I know for sure of 3 of them one is a 1955, one as Dave mentions is a 1956 mine is a 1958 with no two years being the same maybe they built a new one every year for a few years since different trucks were assigned to different fire districts they could have been working across the state.
