Good luck on rear fenders they are tough to find. I happened to find a set of dealer take offs. One came from the east coast and one from California. One I put on without painting it as it was stored in an attic. The other was outside in the desert and had minor surface rust. It took quite a while to find them and that was quite a few years ago. At least you are not looking for first series fenders.
I gather that your engine is not running. Check to see if fuel is getting into the carb. There should be a drain plug on the side of the fuel bowl. Remove it and see if gas flows out. If not pull the top of the carb and check the needle valve and make sure tht the bowl is clean and not gummed up. Also check the fuel passages.
Next obvious thing is to check the spark. Remove a plug wire and hold it with a pair of insulated pliers so that it is about 1/4 inch away from a ground. Have someone crank the engine. You should see a spark. If not start checking the coil its wiring and the distrib. Take a close look at the points and condenser and the small wire between the coil and the points especially where it goes through the side of the distrib. Might not be a bad idea to replace the points and condenser and cap if they are not new. Check all the plug wires especially the one from the coil to the distrib. Also check the wire from the coil to the ignition switch. I believe that it actually may go to the a hot termail on the voltage regulator.
