Yo Matt:
I guess your kinda uncovered now. I just took apart a tire/combat rim myself. Back in the day, I was in an engineer unit as a heavy equip operator. For punishment, I was put into the maintenance platoon. Guess what my ew job was?????? Yep, tire changing, fixing flats.
I fooled them though, I used the blade of a D9 Cat. Dropped that sucker down, broke the bead, tire off. The ring wasn't gonna hurt that blade one little bit. ;>) Had them tires off the rims in less than 5 minutes.
Unfortunately, I don't have a D9 at hand anymore, but I do have a baby back hoe. It took about 1/2 hour to get the job done, but the tires must have been on those rims for at least 20 years. I have the WC combat rims, so it's not as bad as the split rims. The only reason it took as long as it did is that I'm a bit rusty. Still, it beat the heck out of a sawzall.
