Joe,
I just put in a new high performance torque converter and rebuilt my 48re after burning them up towing. The 2004.5's and up are great trucks, but don't add any engine performance mods other than intake or exhaust. The engines are already high performance and if you add after market down loaders to get higher fueling you are likely to burn a hole in the #6 piston. I know of several that have already done just that. The torque converter is the weak link, with the auto tranny a close second. I had 28k on mine when the tranny was taken out by the torque converter. Probably would have been fine if I wasn't long distance towing at high speeds (80mph)in over drive. Still a great truck though, as long as you don't do a bunch of mod's to it. I'd buy another in a heartbeat. But I'd get the 6 speed manual like I had in my 2001.
