At higher speed with more air flow, you shouldn't have any problem. The air getting rammed through the radiator ought to be plenty, shrouds are needed for low speeds and idling. Does you lower hose have it's anti-collapse spring inside, or does higher engine suction suck the darn thing flat at high rpms?

Do you realize that thermostatic fan clutchs save gas by disengaging when the air coming thru the rad is cool, because the rammed air is adequit?

My M1009 Blazer overheated on Tejon Pass coming home from Hollister this year. I had to drop to first, and had a tail wind. Fan clutch had disengaged, so there was no air coming off fan. With the tail wind the same as my forward speed, no air was getting heated by the radiator, so no clutch engagement. I parked, letting it run, in 2 minutes the fan was pulling me up the hill like an airplane proppeller. Maybe I'll replace the clutch...someday....
