If you have Power Steering, you can use the PS pump to power your winch thru a Hydraulic Motor.
I copied the Mile Marker Power Steering pump driving a Hydraulic Winch System on my Carryall. The PS pump out put after going thru the PS and Hydroboost, can be diverted to the Char-Lynn 4.9 cubic inch hydraulic motor. This motor is connected to the winch input thru a Love Joy coupling to handle any angular miss alignment.
Actual Pull power appears with tests to be equal to my PW with a shaft drive MU-2. However, it is about 10% slower on line speed. This was expected as the Braden Engineer suggested I use a 3.9 cu in Motor. I had a 4.9 and used that instead. The more cu in per revolution the slower the motor will run. If I can ever find a 'good' deal on a Char-Lynn 3.9 cu in motor I will change her out.
I had the same problem on my Carryall, with the Cummins/NV-4500, I could not clear a drive shaft to the winch without using a pillow block and universals. I am totally pleased with the Hydraulic Drive MU-2
There is a picture of the setup on my Image Event Site, in the 1943 Dodge Carryall Album,
