Front axle retainer ring

I have a B1PW and I'm replacing the front axle retainer ring that goes around the knuckle. I have two questions. Is there a Napa part number for the felt that goes inside the retainer against the knuckle? I noticed on the donor ring there is a kinked metal band that goes in behind the same felt. My ring did not have this metal "spring" band when I took it apart. Is the kinked metal band really needed?
