I used 12 volts. The power source was a HP Power Supply with current limit protection (crow bar), but a 'good' battery charger also works fine. The sacrificial steel as you see in the picture was a piece of 16 ga steel wrapped in a circle to surround the Lift Shackle which was being cleaned. I got the Soda Ash at Agway. You can also get it at Swimming Pool supply stores. Its also used to control PH in Swimming Pools.
In the Picture, I was running 12 volts and current was set at about 14 or 15 amps. The higher current flow, the quicker the process.
I used a Plastic Garbage can, which after I took the picture was filled with the water/soda ash solution so it just covered the sacrificial steel sheet. I used electric fence wire to suspend the sacrificial sheet steel in the plastic garbage can.
