Broken Axel Shaft piece (in the center section)

Ok, I've finished cleaning and re-installing the front center section. Now I've pulled the rear section, and no real cleaning there. But I pulled it for a different reason.

Any suggestions on how to pull out the broken off splined end of the axle shaft? I've tried pulling it out with a small pair of needle nose pliers, but it's seems like it's in there snugly. Looking for any additional ideas short of disassembly.

If I have to go to the route of disassembly, I will go ahead and install the Lock-Right, other wise I'll wait on that.
