Mercedes diesel in a power-wagon

Has anyone thought about putting a mercedes 5 cylinder diesel in their power-Wagon? I have a new Dodge Sprinter box truck with the 2.7 liter mercedes diesel. I am impressed with the fuel economy (16mpg with me beating the crap out of it, 80 down the highway) and power that tiny engine has, and thought it would make a nice power-Wagon engine. The box truck is about the same weight as a power wagon if not more. There are a lot of mercedes on ebay in the $1000-$2000 range with the 5cylinder in them.
