CTD injector costs?

My 93 Ram 4x4 Cummins is in the shop. I had them adjust the valves and am still getting some black smoke on moderate acceleration. Now the guy wants to replace the injectors. Engine has 170k miles. I have two questions: Should the injectors need replacing at this mileage? and What is a reasonable price for this job? Thanks in advance--Gil
