Yes, the engineering company I worked for was based in Toronto and Niagara Falls, Canada. I was in there Buffalo, N.Y. office, and they borrowed a couple of us guys for a short trip up there. They did most of the design work there on all the big hydro dams up in Labrador. I did one tour of duty there as a geologist assigned to a drill rig. We drilled from a barge on the Churchill River. I believe it never got above 10 below zero while I was there. I remember the river did not freeze, as it was flowing so fast. However, if you dipped a can into the water and pulled it out, the still water in the can would freeze almost instantly.
There was nothing where we were working but wilderness and a drill camp. I never went back to that job, so have only seen photos of the hydro facilities.
