In the old days (1960's) the gas station where I worked to put myself through school used school bus resonators. They were narrow enough to fit the trucks, and had just the right amount of restriction. They really made the flat-6's sound sweet.
The station, Martin's Maple Street Shell, in Potsdam, NY, had at least 4 PW's on the road as wreckers, and another two or three up in their woodlot, where they were used as bulldozers to pile up wrecked cars.
