Good prose from the father of "Perry Mason". Norm especially can relate, having been to Baja in the "olden days".
"Finally I decided upon two automobiles: a pick-up (Dodge) with extra large tires and a two-inch block under the front springs. This would be used for a general purpose car. As an ace in the hole I had a big brute of a four-wheel drive Dodge Power Wagon with eight speeds forward and two in reverse, a winch on front, and a general appearance of bulldog tenacity. It appeared to be challenging Lower California (Baja), or any other terrain, to bring on a road it couldn't devour and toss to one side without even taking a long breath".
