I thought I would post this reminder about taking a cap loose on a hot radiator. About an hour ago, I heard a lot of sirens, that stopped right around the corner from my shop. Then a Careflite helicopter landed in the parking lot at the auto repair shop there.
One of their young mechanics took a radiator cap loose from a hot engine. The cap and all the hot antifreeze blew up into his face, resulting in terrible burns to his face and eyes. They flew him to a burn center in Dallas. It is so easy to momentarily forget safety procedures when we are working on our vehicles. This nearby accident made me think a lot about safety when I went back into my shop. Be careful.
