If it is a 1958, it should have the 315 engine,
which is identified by a high rise type intake manifold, like on a 440 or 383, or old V8 Pontiac engine. On this type engine there is a lifter valley cover, visable under the intake. The old 318 wide block, beginning in 1959 does not have this cover, rather the lifter valley is covered by the intake itself.
