The studs are the same, there is a internally threaded nut (with external threads as well) that threads on the existing stud to hold the first rim on, then the second rim is installed and a LARGER nut is used to hold it in place. The square head of the inner/outer dual adapter is used to tighten it onto the first (inner tire), then a larger nut (same outer as the original Budd nut) is driven on. This is why the Lug Nut wrench comes with a square end (except the combat rims, as they had a hex for the outer rim nuts)
The Dodge "Dually" Rims are actually different, as they have a deeper offset to prevent the tires from rubbing. Especially important under loaded conditions. Rubbing = friction = heat = wera/flats.
If you want to do it right find a set of the "dually rims". I'm not sure if the older 1/2ton rim depth is sufficient, but they are deeper than the 3/4 ton split and combats.
